What rebates are available for replacing your heating equipment?

Government of Alberta:

All Albertans who purchase and install a qualifying replacement furnace on or after January 1, 2009 are eligible for one of the following rebates:

$400 for an ENERGY STARŪ qualified furnace with an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 92% or better

$500 for an ENERGY STAR qualified furnace with an AFUE of 92% or better and a DC variable-speed motor

ecoEnergy Retrofit Grants:

NEW! Effective March 31, 2010, the program is not accepting new bookings for pre-retrofit evaluations. Homeowners who have pre-retrofit evaluations already scheduled remain eligible to apply to the program. However, homeowners are reminded that they are required to complete their renovations and follow-up with a post-retrofit evaluation and submit their application by March 31, 2011

Replacing your heating equipment can be a costly endeavor. However, the Government of Canada has rebates available to those who qualify, and choose to upgrade the energy  efficiency of their home. Maximum grants available per home is $5000.00 for all recommended upgrades performed. Only homes that have had an energy efficiency assessment done by an NRCan-licensed advisor will be eligible for these grants.

The Home Renovation Tax Credit
